Weekend Wrapup

I know my readers are dying to know what I did this weekend.  Friday I was off so I took care of some errands and went to lunch by myself!  I love doing that.  ha ha!  I can just sit and read or play on my phone and eat where ever I want without factoring in another person's opinion!  :)

I went to a bake sale at the Prince's school and had one several of these amazing cookies!  If anyone would like to make them for me, I have included the recipe! ;)

I spent the rest of the day babysitting my cute 'niece' and making her wear her favorite bib.  Despite her face she was in love!

Saturday I went with some friends to the Skate Center and this is how I chose to spend my time in between conversations.  Don't judge!  Increasing brain power!

Sunday was church and the Prince had his last basketball game.  It ended in a tie but they had fun and worked hard.  Next season is right around the corner..baseball!

I'm going tonight to get my ipad and waaay excited about it!  :)

Product Review Needed!

So taxes are filed and I'm waiting for my moola!  In keeping with Dave Ramsey's school of thought...SAVING...I will be putting aside some for savings, car insurance for the year and other miscellaneous expenses that I know will occur during the year.  But, there are some fun things I'm wanting to get as well!  I have been annoying my friends to death about these purchases so I figured why not open it up to the world wide web and bother the American people as well!
I went to Ulta and found a decent price on a straightener very similar to the product shown below.  Any thoughts on this brand?  Work like a charm?!
And my big purchase is an Ipad.  I feel like I've done a lot of research and talked to lots of Ipad owners to get their thoughts and I'm ready to take the plunge.  Good ole Dave says anything over $300 is a "major purchase" so it's a big deal to me ;)  I think I will go ahead and get my son an Ipod touch but I may not give it to him just yet!  He asked for one at Christmas but I didn't feel it was the right time.  I haven't looked into this as much so any advice is appreciated!

I mentioned my movie marathon in a previous post.  I saw Safe Haven with the girlfriends and it was really good.  I recommend reading the book first though.  As with most movies, the story line varies from the movie but both were really good and you should enjoy it!

Thanks for stopping by!  Let me know what you think about these products :)  Happy Hump Day!

Visual Valentine Love

Randomness for Valentine's day!  Just some pics of things I'm loving! I've tried a couple new things lately and highly recommend! (and I just realized all statements have been followed with an exclamation point.  Overboard but since it's valentine's day I'll show the exclamation point some love too!!)

um..the blank spacing?!  Sorry! Novice poster here

I follow several bloggers on Instagram and this picture was posted earlier in the week.  I think it's just precious and I can't wait to try it out soon.  'It's just Laine' is a cute blog.  Look it up! http://www.justlaine.com/

Hope everyone has a good Valentine's day.  I will be celebrating over the course of the weekend with the Prince and some girlfriends going to the movies and dinner.  The e-cards that are circulating around are so funny!  I got a chuckle out of this one!

You Owe Me...

The Prince's birthday was in October and I got him a remote control helicopter that he had been asking and asking for.  The retail value was $40 and it ended up not working properly by the end of the first day.  So we returned it and I didn't think anymore about it.  Well...apparently he hasn't forgotten the fact that I returned his gift and never bought him another one.  Lately there has been a lot of conversation about I "owe" him $40 and he wants to get another helicopter with that money.  I guess he does have a point that I got him a gift and since it didn't work, I need to make it right and still give him a gift :)  Yesterday he was asking if we could go shopping and he shared that I've had an "18 week delay" on this present and he "needs to be assured I'm going to get his helicopter".  Boy oh boy!  I'm gonna get in big trouble if this doesn't get resolved soon!

We've concluded it will be a reward after this week's work at school.  We'll make it a goal to have a great week and be rewarded for his hard work!

(the original day of happiness.  to be continued..)

Monday Musings

It's a rainy monday morning.  That makes for a treat huh?!  I had a good weekend without too many commitments.  Those are the best kinds!  A friend and I took our kids skating and they were still going strong 4 hours later!  The best part about your kids growing up is the ability to play without Mom.  ha ha!  The mommas can just sit and chat :)  Our friend, Alana, must have a little crush on The Prince because her mom was saying she was getting dressed to come and trying to pick out her earrings based on his favorite color.  She told us that he asked her to wear her favorite dress sometime.  Of course I asked him if they talked about her dress and his face was priceless and typical 'boy'.  He said a dress??  What?  NO.  ha ha!  Young love!

I tried to get a start on planning some wedding showers.  I have 4 events coming up soon.  Good thing I have cute notebook to work out of!

I am helping host a Premier Jewelry party tonight and we are going with the valentine theme.  I found the heart shaped hershey's so giving that a try instead of the traditional kisses melted on pretzels.  Hope they turn out tasty ;)

What's on your shelf?

I've gotten some comments that you all are glad I'm blogging and (drumroll) I have my first official follower!! Never mind that she helped me design this thing :) So no pressure here...I've just got to give the readers what they want to read! The Prince saw my blogger app on phone today and said "you are a blogger now?" It was said very questioningly. Ha!
I put a section on here called Book Boutique and after I finish up a book I'll add to it. I believe there is a place to write a recommendation on that site but I haven't looked into it yet. What about you? Any good books to share? Leave a comment! Let me know.

$$Show Me the Money$$

We've been doing the Financial Peace University by Dave Ramsey at my church.  It's a great class and if you do not know of one being offered in your area you can visit their website and find one.  In our area, there are 13 going on. I am definitely not a budget girl but it's been eye opening how much money you can actually come out with if you follow some key steps.  When I started making my budget I texted a friend and said this is soo depressing!  Now I see how little money I actually have!  But in reality, I don't think it will be that bad if you decide in your mind how you are going to spend your money.  Dave says every dollar has a name.  If you go through your monthly income and allot a certain amount for each area you have, then you will build in a little cushion for some 'extras' or paying off some debt, etc.  The good news...I think I will still be able to buy shoes!  This might not be so bad after all ;)
One of his famous quotes is "Live now like no one else so later you can live like no one else", meaning you will be able to really LIVE and not worry about your finances or be stressed about how you are going to cover each and every little thing. He also said several times "The borrower is slave to the lender" and that one definitely makes a lot of sense and is very true!

I'm a diet coke addict and one small change I've made is to buy 12 oz. bottles at the grocery store and keep in the fridge instead of stopping at a fast food restaurant and getting one for $1.  I've saved $4.12 for 2 weeks by doing this.  Obviously this is a small, silly example but for me it's been about awareness and just little things you could do to save some $$ here and there.

In the end..this could be you! (and hopefully me too!  ha)

So Many Friends (That I Broke Facebook)

I've been accused of always being on Facebook, knowing what everyone is doing, etc.  I prefer to think of myself as a switchboard operator!  (side note, I actually have switchboard experience from college so it's legit!  I did this one year for work study.)  I am always getting texts from people asking do you have so and so's phone number, or do you know if so and so was planning to come to an event?  So next time you go to ask me a question, just bring up this visual:

And I would like to leave you with this video.  I know the guys in this video and it absolutely cracks me up!  Check it out!

*I should add one of the guys in this video, Dustin, is launching his first album and his website is http://dustinahkuoi.com/

Souper Bowl!

I had a good weekend.  As a matter of fact, they are always good until Monday morning rolls around!  My church did a Souper Bowl party with a can of soup as the admission.  The soup will go to Manna Ministries.  I was in charge of decorations so I set up a ladies craft night to create some decorations.  We designed pennants and cut out numbers using the Cricut machine.  It's hard to get a true visual but they turned out pretty cute

We also created the field for the food table and scatted football confetti down it.  That was really easy to do with a green tablecloth and white duct tape.  Turned out really fun!  The cool thing about those tablecloths is when I went to Walmart to purchase they rang up .40c for a 2 pack!!!  They were left over from Christmas stock apparently.  I loaded up for future events!  They were just perfect for what we were doing

Scattered team colored balloons in all the rooms we were using.  Fun too!  :)

Hope you had a good weekend too.  Leave a comment!  Tell what you did for Super Bowl especially decorations.  I love getting ideas!
